New gate regulations.

The Pointe a Pierre road gate is usually closed, and will remain so. The Sinanan Street gate  will now be closed , and will no longer be used as a drop off and pick up point by parents. All parents and paid transport vehicles can still drop off the students at the gate point, but the students will now have to walk along the safe pavement for entry to the school via the front gate, and back along the safe pavement to the back gate for pickup. While we understand some parents may feel inconvenienced, we ask your indulgence, and hope you will understand that these measures were not arrived at quickly and casually, but came as a result of long and detailed deliberations and discussions between the school staff and the PTA, and in the light of potentially hazardous circumstances that have occurred in the past, and the present climate of crimes towards children, and kidnappings. It is all being done for the safety of our children. Let us not take any chances.

The PTA Suggestion Box

This box was installed on the wall adjacent to the office during the last term. However, it will be put into use for the new term. Simply, this suggestion box is the means by which parents can communicate with the PTA Executive in a private and confidential manner. Parents can simply place correspondence into the box, which is locked a all times, and can only be opened by members of the PTA Executive. The names of the parents placing correspondence into this box will be kept strictly confidential by the PTA Executive, unless otherwise instructed.

PROJECTS IN THE PIPELINE…..

The school database.

After a few delays in working out the programming bugs, the school registration database programme seems to be working fine.  Now we are ready to start the input of data. This is a task that will require the input and cooperation of the staff, parents, students and executive members of the PTA. Briefly, getting the programme up and running will require a photograph of the student, the student’s bio data, and the parents contact information. Parent’s photographs can be added, but is optional. We propose to begin the process by photographing each student, starting with the first years, and then obtaining the biodata from the school records and parent’s questionnaire, a great deal of which we already have. The data will be input by members of the PTA Executive, and when the process is complete, will be transferred to the school computer system. All files will be password protected for safety. We hope to have the entire project completed before year end.We anticipate this database will assist the school and the PTA in building a communication link with parents, which can be used to dispense information, but can also enable the school administration to instantly identify each student by photograph, and be able to access medical or health information in the event of an emergency.

The School Newsletter

The PTA Executive is presently working on a school newsletter, that will be published monthly in this website, and mailed to each household of every student. The newsletter will highlight the progress of the school, announce upcoming events, and feature the accomplishments of the students in all areas. I will also serve to dispense useful information to parents. The newsletter will consist of inputs from the staff, students, parents and the PTA, and will be edited by the PTA. The newsletter will be fubded through corporate sponsorship in return for an advertising opportunity

The Perimeter Advertising Project.

Even though it was agreed upon by the administration and the PTA, that the perimeter advertising project on the south western was a feasable one, and that quite a bit of revenue could be earned through paid corporate advertising , a date has not been set for the beginning of this project. However, we hope to meet with the school board soon to discuss the implementation of this project.
